side rail
Mattress boundary bar
Side rails are the horizontal bars along the sides of something—most commonly a bed, crib, or hospital gurney—that prevent someone from rolling off.
They also appear on trucks, trailers, and flatbeds to secure cargo: The movers lashed the furniture to the side rails.
On stairs or ramps, side rails function as handrails for support.
