A side airbag is a vehicle safety device that deploys from the door panel or seat to protect occupants during side-impact collisions.
Unlike front airbags that cushion forward momentum, side airbags create a barrier between the passenger and the door: The side airbag deployed when the truck hit us broadside.
Most modern vehicles include them as standard equipment.
