sharehouse

Cohabited rental property

A sharehouse is a dwelling occupied by multiple tenants who aren't family, each renting a room while sharing common spaces like kitchen and bathroom.

Common among students and young professionals in expensive cities: I lived in a sharehouse with four other people after college.

More common in Australian and British English than American, where the arrangement might be called a group house or simply roommates.
