seedcases
Botanical seed housings
Seedcases are the protective outer coverings that enclose seeds in flowering plants—the pods, husks, or shells that split open when seeds are ready to disperse.
A pea pod is a seedcase; so is the dry, papery covering around a maple seed.
Also spelled as two words: seed cases.
