scutwork
Tedious grunt labor
Scutwork is tedious, menial labor that requires little skill but must be done—the unglamorous tasks that fall to the lowest person on a hierarchy.
Medical interns do scutwork for residents; junior associates do it for partners.
The word implies drudgery that someone more senior has delegated downward: I spent my first year doing scutwork while the senior analysts got the interesting projects.
