scrub jay
Crestless blue bird
A scrub jay is a blue-and-gray jay found in scrublands and oak woodlands of western North America and Florida.
Unlike most jays, it lacks a crest.
The name reflects its habitat—scrubby, brushy terrain rather than dense forest.
A scrub jay cached acorns in the garden.
