scout oath

Campfire honor promise

The scout oath is a formal promise recited by members of scouting organizations, pledging duty to God and country, service to others, and adherence to the scout law.

In the Boy Scouts of America, it begins "On my honor I will do my best..." The oath functions as both initiation ritual and ongoing commitment, recited at meetings and ceremonies.

Also called the scout promise in some countries.
