ringdove
Cooing forest bird
A ringdove is a large European pigeon with a distinctive white patch on the neck, also called a wood pigeon.
The name refers to this collar-like marking.
In British usage, ringdove may also mean the Eurasian collared dove, a smaller species with similar neck markings: Ringdoves cooed in the oak trees.
