reverse shot

Opposite camera angle

A reverse shot is a camera angle in film and television that shows the opposite perspective from the previous shot, typically used during conversations to alternate between speakers.

When two characters talk face to face, the camera cuts back and forth between them, showing each person's reactions and dialogue from the other's point of view.

This shot/reverse shot technique is fundamental to continuity editing and creates the illusion of natural conversation.
