resetting
Returning to zero
Resetting is the act of returning something to its original or default state.
You might reset a password, a clock, or a broken bone (which requires manipulation back into proper alignment).
In gaming and tech contexts, resetting often means restarting a device or reloading a saved state: I kept resetting until I got the outcome I wanted.
The word also applies to mental or emotional restoration: a weekend of resetting after a stressful month.
