relatching
Closing the latch
Relatching is the act of latching again—securing a door, gate, or fastener that has come undone or been opened.
The word appears in contexts where something needs to be re-secured: The wind blew the gate open and I had to keep relatching it.
In breastfeeding, relatching refers to repositioning a baby at the breast after an improper initial attachment.
