rebutter
One who counters
A rebutter is a person who rebuts—one who argues against or refutes something.
In legal contexts, a rebutter is also a defendant's reply to a plaintiff's surrejoinder, the fourth stage in common-law pleading.
The word is rare outside legal writing: The senator positioned himself as a rebutter of administration claims.
