reassume
Take on again
To reassume is to take up or take on again something previously held or adopted.
One might reassume a former role, reassume responsibilities after a leave of absence, or reassume control of a situation: After her sabbatical, she reassumed her duties as department chair.
The word carries a slightly formal tone, appearing more often in institutional or legal contexts than casual speech.
