real-time collaboration
Working together live
Real-time collaboration is working together on something simultaneously, with changes visible to all participants as they happen.
The term emerged with software that lets multiple users edit the same document, spreadsheet, or design at once: Google Docs enables real-time collaboration on shared files.
The real-time element distinguishes it from asynchronous work, where contributors take turns rather than working in tandem.
