A reach-in is a commercial refrigerator or freezer with doors that open outward, allowing someone to reach in from a standing position—as opposed to a walk-in, which is large enough to enter.
Common in restaurant kitchens and convenience stores: The prep cook grabbed lettuce from the reach-in.
