rarer

Harder to find

Rarer is the comparative form of rare—less common or more unusual than something else: Smartphones were rarer ten years ago.

Though "more rare" is also acceptable, rarer remains the standard comparative: Fresh truffles are rarer than dried ones.

A rarer steak is cooked even less than a rare one.
