radio relay
Broadcast transmission extender
A radio relay is a system or station that receives radio signals and retransmits them to extend their range beyond line-of-sight limitations.
Radio relays form chains across terrain that would otherwise block transmission: The mountain relay station boosted the signal to the valley below.
The term also describes the process itself of receiving and retransmitting.
