quilt batting
Soft inner layer
Quilt batting is the soft, thick layer of material sandwiched between a quilt's top and backing to provide warmth and loft.
It comes in various materials—cotton, polyester, wool, or blends—and different weights for different purposes.
The batting gives a quilt its puffiness and determines how it drapes: I prefer cotton batting for its breathability.
