public beta

Open test version

A public beta is a pre-release version of software made available to general users for testing before official launch.

Unlike private or closed betas restricted to selected testers, public betas let anyone try new features while developers gather feedback and identify bugs: I've been running the public beta of the new operating system.

Users accept that public betas may be unstable or incomplete.
