production order
Factory work authorization
A production order is a document authorizing the manufacture of a specific quantity of goods, specifying materials, processes, and deadlines.
In manufacturing, it triggers the release of raw materials and schedules labor: We can't start assembly until the production order comes through.
In legal contexts, particularly British law, a production order compels someone to hand over documents or evidence to authorities.
