primary color
Red or blue
A primary color is one that cannot be created by mixing other colors, but can itself be mixed to produce a range of other colors.
In traditional color theory for pigments, the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue.
In light (additive color), they are red, green, and blue.
In modern printing (subtractive color), cyan, magenta, and yellow serve as primaries.
Children learn to mix primary colors in art class.
