preservation area
Land kept untouched
A preservation area is a designated zone where development, alteration, or certain activities are restricted to protect something of value—natural habitats, historic buildings, archaeological sites, or scenic landscapes.
The term appears in zoning law, environmental policy, and urban planning: The wetlands were designated a preservation area to protect migratory birds.
Similar to but often more restrictive than a conservation area.
