prejudgments

Opinions before evidence

Prejudgments are opinions formed before adequate evidence is available—judgments made in advance of full consideration.

The word carries a sense of premature conclusion: His prejudgments about the case made him a poor juror.

Unlike prejudice, which implies bias or hostility, prejudgments may simply be hasty rather than unfair.
