precommit
Promise in advance
To precommit is to bind yourself to a future action or decision before the moment of choice arrives, often to prevent backsliding or temptation.
You might precommit to a diet by not keeping junk food in the house, or precommit to saving by setting up automatic transfers: I precommitted to the deadline so I couldn't back out.
In software development, a precommit hook runs checks on code before allowing it to be committed to a repository.
