potting mixes

Containerized plant soil

Potting mixes are blended growing media for container plants, typically combining materials like peat moss, perlite, vermiculite, and bark.

Unlike garden soil, potting mixes are formulated for drainage and aeration in confined spaces: I repotted the fern in fresh potting mix.

Different mixes suit different plants—orchids, cacti, and seedlings each have specialized formulations.
