positive image
Favorable public perception
A positive image is a representation where tones match reality—light areas appear light, dark areas appear dark.
The term exists primarily in contrast to a negative, where tones are reversed.
In photography, a positive is the final print or slide, as opposed to the intermediate negative used to produce it.
Figuratively, a positive image is a favorable public perception: The campaign aimed to create a positive image of the candidate.
