pop icons

Pop icons are celebrities who achieve lasting cultural significance, typically in entertainment—musicians, actors, or public figures whose image and influence transcend their original work.

The term implies widespread recognition and often a distinctive visual identity: Madonna and Michael Jackson were the defining pop icons of the 1980s.

Icons may represent an era, movement, or ideal, their fame extending beyond fans of their actual output.
