pond skating
Ice on water
Pond skating is ice skating on a frozen pond or lake rather than an artificial rink.
The activity carries nostalgic associations with winter recreation—children skating after school, hockey games on natural ice.
Because pond ice varies in thickness and safety, pond skating implies both rustic charm and a degree of risk that rink skating lacks.
