pleon
Crustacean tail region
A pleon is the segmented abdomen of a crustacean—the tail section of a shrimp, lobster, or crab.
In lobsters and shrimp, the pleon is the muscular part that curls and propels the animal backward; in crabs, it's the small flap tucked under the body.
The term appears mainly in zoological contexts.
