plastic bullets
Non-lethal crowd control
Plastic bullets are projectiles made of hard plastic or rubber-coated materials, fired from specialized weapons and intended for crowd control rather than lethal force.
Also called baton rounds, they were developed as a supposedly less lethal alternative to live ammunition for riot situations.
Despite being marketed as non-lethal, plastic bullets have caused deaths and serious injuries, particularly head trauma, leading to controversy over their use by police and military forces.
Protesters scattered when officers began firing plastic bullets.
