pit pass
Garage area credential
A pit pass grants access to the pit area at motorsports events—the zone where crews service race cars during competition.
It's a coveted credential that lets fans get close to drivers, mechanics, and vehicles: I got a pit pass for the NASCAR race and watched them change tires in seconds.
By extension, pit pass can describe any backstage or VIP access.
