photo backup

Copied picture storage

Photo backup is the process of copying digital photographs to a secondary location for safekeeping—typically cloud storage, an external drive, or another device.

The term also refers to the copy itself: I keep a photo backup on my laptop in case my phone dies.

Services like Google Photos and iCloud offer automatic photo backup, syncing images as they're taken.
