personal narratives
First-person accounts
Personal narratives are stories people tell about their own experiences, typically in first person.
The term appears most often in educational contexts, where students write personal narratives as assignments, and in qualitative research, where participants share personal narratives about illness, migration, or other life events.
A personal narrative emphasizes subjective experience and meaning-making rather than objective reporting.
