pensioning
Putting out pasture
Pensioning is the act of granting someone a pension, typically as they retire from work or service.
When an organization pensions off an employee, it provides them with regular payments in recognition of their years of service.
The term can carry connotations of being put out to pasture: After thirty years, they finally pensioned him off and brought in younger talent.
