penalty stroke
Infraction's added shot
A penalty stroke is an uncontested shot awarded in certain sports when the opposing team commits a foul.
In golf, it's a stroke added to a player's score for a rules violation—hitting out of bounds or into water.
In field hockey, it's a one-on-one shot at goal from the penalty spot, awarded for serious fouls in the shooting circle.
