pegging out
Securing clothes outside
Pegging out means dying or collapsing from exhaustion—giving out completely: The old horse finally pegged out.
The phrase comes from cribbage, where pegging out means reaching the final hole on the board to win the game.
In British usage, pegging out also means hanging laundry on a clothesline with pegs.
