pearlers
Gem-seeking ocean divers
Pearlers are people who dive for or trade in pearls, particularly in the pearl fishing industry.
The term is most associated with historical operations in Australia and the South Pacific, where pearlers harvested pearl oysters for both pearls and mother-of-pearl shell.
In Australian slang, a pearler is also something excellent or outstanding: That goal was an absolute pearler.
