patch pockets
Surface-attached bag compartments
Patch pockets are pockets sewn onto the outside of a garment rather than set into the fabric.
They're the simplest pocket construction—a piece of fabric stitched flat against the surface, visible from outside: a denim jacket with patch pockets, cargo pants with patch pockets on the thighs.
Common on casual clothing, work wear, and uniforms.
