password field
Credential entry area
A password field is a text input box designed to hide what you type, displaying dots or asterisks instead of characters.
This prevents onlookers from seeing sensitive information as you enter it: The password field showed eight dots where I'd typed my password.
Most password fields include an eye icon to temporarily reveal the text.
