parasitic relationships
Host-exploiting biological bonds
Parasitic relationships are associations between organisms or entities in which one party benefits at the expense of the other.
In biology, this describes arrangements where a parasite feeds on or lives within a host, gaining nutrients while causing harm.
The term extends to human relationships where one person exploits another's resources, energy, or goodwill without reciprocating: She finally recognized the parasitic relationship with her roommate, who never paid rent or cleaned.
Unlike symbiotic relationships, parasitic ones are fundamentally unequal and draining.
