pain scales
Discomfort measurement tools
Pain scales are standardized tools for measuring and communicating pain intensity.
The most common asks patients to rate pain from 0 to 10, where 0 is no pain and 10 is the worst imaginable.
Other versions use facial expressions or descriptive words.
Medical staff use pain scales to track changes and guide treatment: What's your pain level on a scale of one to ten?
