overoptimization
Too much tuning
Overoptimization is the process of refining something so aggressively that it becomes worse overall.
In search engine optimization, overoptimization means stuffing keywords or building links so obviously that search engines penalize the site.
More broadly, it describes any situation where pursuit of a specific metric undermines the larger goal: The algorithm was so overoptimized for engagement that it drove users away.
