antifragility
Strengthened by chaos
Antifragility describes the property of systems that gain strength, resilience, or capability when exposed to stressors, shocks, or volatility—the opposite of fragility.
Where fragile things break under pressure and robust things merely resist it, antifragile things actually improve.
The term was coined by statistician Nassim Nicholas Taleb to describe phenomena that benefit from disorder: Muscles exhibit antifragility, growing stronger after being stressed by exercise.
The concept applies across domains from economics to biology to personal development.
