outdrawing

Pulling more quickly

Outdrawing is drawing faster or better than someone else.

In Westerns and competitive shooting, it means pulling a gun from a holster before an opponent can: He was confident he could outdraw any man in town.

The word also applies to attracting larger crowds: The upstart comedian was outdrawing established headliners.
