oil pastels
Creamy drawing sticks
Oil pastels are drawing sticks made of pigment mixed with oil and wax, producing soft, creamy marks that blend easily.
Unlike chalk pastels, they don't crumble or require fixative.
The medium suits bold, painterly effects: She worked the oil pastels with her fingers to blur the edges.
Children's versions are sometimes called oil crayons.
