mechanical pencils
Lead-advancing writing tools
Mechanical pencils are pencils that advance lead through a mechanism rather than requiring sharpening.
A button or clicking action pushes thin graphite forward as needed.
They use standardized lead sizes—0.5mm and 0.7mm being most common—and can be refilled indefinitely: I prefer mechanical pencils because the point stays consistent.
