not just a pretty face
More than attractive
Someone who is not just a pretty face has substance beyond physical attractiveness—intelligence, talent, or skill that might not be immediately apparent.
The phrase pushes back against assumptions that good-looking people lack depth: She designed the entire system herself—not just a pretty face.
Often used self-referentially with mock immodesty.
