nonresponsive
Failing to react
Nonresponsive describes someone or something that fails to respond or react.
A nonresponsive patient shows no reaction to stimuli.
A nonresponsive witness evades questions rather than answering them directly.
In legal contexts, an answer is nonresponsive when it doesn't address what was actually asked: The judge struck the testimony as nonresponsive.
Systems or software that freeze or hang are also called nonresponsive.
