nondeterministic
Not uniquely determined
Nondeterministic describes a process or system whose outcome cannot be predicted from its inputs alone—the same starting conditions may produce different results on different runs.
In computing, a nondeterministic algorithm might take different paths to a solution, or a nondeterministic program might behave differently each time due to timing, randomness, or external factors.
The bug was hard to reproduce because the system was nondeterministic.
The term contrasts with deterministic, where identical inputs always yield identical outputs.
