Referee's nullifying call
No goal is an official ruling in hockey and some other sports that disallows a score, typically because of a penalty, offside position, or the puck entering the net illegally: The referee waved it off—no goal.
The call often prompts replay review and fan outrage.
Informally, no goal describes any failed attempt or lack of progress: I asked her out. No goal.
